Commemorative concert to mark Worcestershire World War 100Published: Wednesday, 12th September 2018
The Band of the Grenadier Guards will be performing at Worcester Cathedral on September 14 2018 at 7.30pm.
This year marks 100 years since the end of World War One. To commemorate this occasion the world acclaimed Band of the Grenadier Guards will be performing a concert on Friday 14th September at 7.30pm, followed by a Drumhead service at Gheluvelt Park, Worcester on Saturday 15th September at 12.30pm.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft said: ' I am sure the commemorative concert, in Worcester Cathedral, will be an inspirational evening that will bring the whole community together to remember all those men and women from Worcestershire who died fighting for their country.'
The Band of the Grenadier Guards, now it's in 333rd year was formed by King Charles II in 1685. They have served 15 monarchs and have been present at all major royal occasions.
The commemorative concert will include compositions of British composers such as Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst, Arthur Bliss, George Butterworth and Hubert Parry.
