Queen's Award for Homeless CharityPublished: Wednesday, 18th October 2017
The Midlands based homeless charity Socks and Chocs was presented with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) at a ceremony at The Guildhall, Worcester on 12th Oct 17.
The Lord-Lieutenant was represented at the Ceremony by Deputy Lieutenant, Mrs Angela Brinton, who made the presentation to Ian Northcott BEM, Founder and Chairman of Socks & Chocs.
The charity tries to ensure that homeless people have access to a pair of socks and other essential clothing. They also fund bed and breakfast accommodation, cover rent for homeless centres and do all they can to support homeless and outreach centres.
Ian Northcott BEM said "We are honoured to receive this award and I am pleased that the team has been recognised as no one associated with Socks and Chocs takes a salary or even claims expenses. Everything given is used as it should be".
