Mrs Miriam Harvey is presented with her British Empire Medal by the Lord-Lieutenant, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft LVO OBE

Mrs Harvey receives her award for services to heritage and tourism in Worcester.

Miriam Harvey retired form the NNS in 1996 after 42 years as a Theatre Sister in charge of emergency operations at Worcester Hospital.  On retirement she qualified as a Green Badge Tour Guide for the City and went on to set up 'Worcester Walks'.  She has been a key figure in this group and has recruited and trained many new guides.  She is also a volunteer at Royal Worcester Porcelain Museum and served on the Executive Committee of the Worcester Tourism Association, serving as Chairman for 3 years.

Her interest in arts led her to start an Artist market each summer to help local artists to sell their work, which she continued to run for 10 years.
